Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday morning that he is now considering either reducing or entirely lifting the general curfew hours after the province slipped into the much lower Alert Level 2 status.
According to Lacson, he plans on meeting with the province’s mayors in order to discuss the proposal, and if the majority of the local chief executives agree, then they may shorten or even stop the general curfew entirely.
He also said he will issue a pertinent executive order once the mayors agree on the matter.
The curfew hours imposed on the 31 cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental is 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., while Bacolod City’s curfew is from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Bacolod City has yet to announce if it would also lift its general curfew hours.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas issued last week a new executive order scrapping curfew entirely and nixing implementation of the city’s current face shield ordinance./DGB, WDJ
