Abanse Negrense Badminton tourney opens in San Carlos City

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the opening of the two-day Abanse Negrense Badminton Tournament held in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, October 23, participated in by players from the different local government units (LGUs) of the province.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Sports Office led by Executive Assistant to the Governor and Provincial Sports Coordinator Tony Agustin.

About 70 players from the LGUs of Himamaylan, Cadiz, Hinigaran, San Carlos, Talisay, Bago, Silay, Calatrava, Sagay, and Bacolod participated in the tournament.

The sports competition is composed of Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles (Open and Level D).

Lacson said that the provincial government is committed to continue promoting the different sports programs in the province.

He urged all participants and organizers to strictly follow health protocols at all times, for everybody’s safety.

Also joining the opening ceremony were Executive Assistant IV, Jesus Facundo Combate, who represented San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo, and tournament manager, Jay Binas, among others./WDJ
