An intelligence officer of the Philippine Army was found dead in Bacolod City’s Bredco Port, part of Barangay 12, yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Jimmy Peña, a native of Capiz and presently assigned as the army’s intel officer at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Based on initial investigation carried out by Bacolod City police, Peña’s remains were found inside a sports utility vehicle parked near the port area’s Gate #1.

Peña’s remains were later identified by another intel officer of the Philippine Army.

When police checked the vehicle, they did not find any blood inside and there was no sign of foul play.

There was no indication of a robbery or theft taking place as Peña’s belongings were all accounted for.

However, police noted they did find a firearm right beside Peña.

Witnesses, meanwhile, claimed that they saw Peña’s vehicle parked in the area since Monday.

Police believe he may have already been dead for 24 hours, as they noted that he was already starting to decompose./DGB, WDJ
