A 39-year-old seaman drowned at a beach resort in Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Sunday afternoon.

Pontevedra police said Helry Gamilong of Barangay Guinturilan in the province’s San Enrique town was rushed to the Pontevedra Rural Health Unit where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

According to police investigators, Gamilong and his friends went swimming but he swam further and was dragged by the strong currents./WDJ
