Another Negros Occidental provincial government employee succumbed to COVID-19 on Sunday.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said the employee is from the Provincial Treasurer’s Office and assigned as a cashier at the Valeriano Gatuslao District Hospital in Himamaylan City.

The employee passed away at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City where she was admitted.

“We were hoping that she will be dialyzed but sad to say that it did not come on time for her,” Diaz said.

Diaz said the patient needed three cartridges worth P28,000 each and they can no longer afford the remaining two cartridges.

“When we were informed, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson committed to shoulder the two cartridges, she did not make it,” he said. “The provincial government officials and employees extend our sympathies to her family.”

The newly-promoted employee was in her late 40s and had health complications.

She was the fourth Capitol employee to have passed away due to COVID-19./DGB, WDJ
