Two town councilors in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) last Tuesday, October 5, in order to seek reelection.

Councilors Vincent Garcia and Jose Morito Flores went to the town’s local Commission on Elections (Comelec) to file their COCs escorted by local police.
Both Garcia and Flores were able to file their COCs after their request was granted by Judge Antony Dumpilo of the Guihulngan City Regional Trial Court Branch 64.
The two councilors were among the town officials who surrendered to police last August and September after an arrest warrant was issued against them for the murder of town councilor Jolomar Hilario in 2019.
Incumbent Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo was also included in the initial warrants, however, her case was later dismissed as she was in jail when the plot against Hilario was being made./DGB, WDJ
