The satellite voter registration of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will continue until September 30.
Comelec-6 regional director, Atty. Wilfred Jay Balisado, said that based on the latest issues, their national office is actually encouraging satellite registration in malls.
Comelec-Bacolod is conducting satellite registration at the Ayala Capitol Central and at the SM City-Bacolod.
But last week, the Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) asked the Comelec to temporarily suspend the satellite registration.
Meanwhile, Balisado had advised Atty. Ma. Fatima Aspan, provincial election supervisor, that voter registrations are ongoing even in areas under the modified enhanced community quarantine such as the National Capital Region and Iloilo.
Balisado also called on the public “who wants to participate in the 2022 election to register now.”
“Give way to new voters,” he urged those who just wanted to transfer from one barangay within the same local government units.
Balisado also advised those who want to run in next year’s elections to go to the nearest Comelec office to ask for guidance.
“Please use the prescribed Certificate of Candidacy (COC) so that you will not be disqualified,” he said.
He added, “When they file their COCs it should be complete already, duly notarized and with Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance.”/DGB, WDJ
