A 31-year-old man was declared dead on the spot after he was shot by unidentified individuals yesterday afternoon in Purok Boulevard, Barangay 13 in Bacolod City.

Police identified the fatality as Lito Barbon, a resident of the said place.

According to the victim’s neighbor who has requested not to be identified, they heard a gunshot in the area.

At first they believed that the shot was a balloon popping, however, they soon found Barbon dead with a gunshot wound on the head.

The neighbor also claimed that Barbon was suffering from mental illness and had also been previously jailed for attempting to stab his own child.

Barbon is also a separated man and was working as a trisikad driver in the city’s Bredco port.

Officers of the Police Station 1 are currently investigating the incident.

Barbon’s killing is the fifth incident to take place this month following the murder of a police officer; the beheading of an alleged drug suspect; the shooting of another drug suspect; and the stabbing of a barangay tanod and his nine-year-old adopted grandson./DGB, WDJ
