Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr., who earlier on Monday was tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, is now doing well according to the latest information posted by the locality’s public information office.
According to a short statement released by the city government, Zayco is reported to be in a stable condition and he has no signs of complications.
The mayor is currently undergoing isolation under the set protocols.
The mayor’s staff are also extending their thanks to the concerns and prayers of the mayor’s constituents, and they are encouraging the city’s residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Talisay City, Negros Occidental Mayor Neil Lizares announced yesterday that he had also tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Lizares, he is currently asymptomatic and he is assuring his constituents that he is taking every possible step to ensure that he remains in good health and recover successfully from the virus.
Zayco and Lizares are among the 13 officials including local chief executives who attended a fellowship lunch for members of Love Negros at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City on Saturday, September 18.
Capitol consultant and Love Negros convenor, former congressman Alfredo Benitez, has advised those who attended the event to isolate themselves.
Provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is in isolation, too.
Diaz added that the mayors will be tested tomorrow, five days after their exposure to Zayco during the event./DGB, WDJ
