Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and several other mayoralty members of local party Love Negros were placed on isolation yesterday morning after Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.

Zayco attended last Saturday’s fellowship lunch meeting in preparation for the upcoming 2022 elections held at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.
According to Jake Gonzales, city information officer for Kabankalan City, Zayco is currently feeling unwell and he is admitted in a private hospital in Bacolod City.
The personnel of the Office of the City Mayor have all been ordered to also undergo isolation pending RT-PCR tests scheduled tomorrow.
Provincial capitol consultant and former 3rd district representative Alfredo Benitez, who was also present during the event in Talisay City, has also decided to undergo self-isolation pending an RT-PCR test.
Benitez is also advising everyone who attended the event to also go on self-isolation until they are tested for COVID-19.
The party’s fellowship went ahead last Saturday, even though their ally United Negros Alliance (UNegA) decided to cancel their own gathering due to COVID-19 concerns.
UNegA’s meeting was also supposed to take place last Saturday at the same resort in Talisay City./DGB, WDJ
