Bacolod City logs 9 more ‘Delta’ cases

Nine additional cases of the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 were detected in Bacolod City, bringing the total Delta cases in the city to 21 as of Monday, September 13.

Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang confirms on Monday, September 13, the detection of nine more Delta variant cases in the city.

According to City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the Philippine Genome Center confirmed the nine new cases on Sunday night, September 12.

The nine cases underwent repeat swabbing yesterday and they were placed in an isolation facility for Delta cases.

Ang added that their close contacts have already been identified and swabbed. Their households were also placed on surgical lockdowns.

“Kon mag-negative ang result sang nine they will be out from the quarantine facility and they will continue the home quarantine because they will be considered as inactive cases already,” the city administrator explained.

Meanwhile, Ang said that the Delta variant was possibly the cause of the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in the city.

Bacolod City recorded 161 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total active cases in the city to 1,411./WDJ
