University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses secured the services of Iloilo City’s Elisha Juliene Apostol ahead of the possible resumption of UAAP women’s volleyball early next year.

Apostol told Watchmen Daily Journal that it was her childhood dream to be able to play for the Golden Tigresses, which got an opportunity to take a look at her ability two years ago.
“It was really my dream to become a Thomasian because they have one of the best volleyball programs in the country and they also offer superior academic programs,” Apostol said.
“(Golden Tigresses head) coach Kungfu (Reyes) wanted to get me then but I opted to finish my high school in Ateneo de Cebu. Now that I am done with high school, I am just delighted that the UST’s offer is still there,” she added.
Apostol was one of the finest volleybelles from Iloilo City. She started her volleyball career with the Ateneo de Iloilo and was able to play for ILOPRISAA in the Western Visayas Regional Athletics Association Meet.
Following her strong showing in the Meet, Apostol was recruited to join the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, where she won a handful of championships.
“I am very excited to come there and develop a chemistry and camaraderie with my teammates. I believe it is important to build a connection with them since we have our common goal—which is to win the UAAP championship,” Apostol said./ASC, WDJ
