Daily new COVID-19 cases in NegOcc plateau

The Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office (PHO) released the latest data of coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, cases in the province showing that the daily new cases plateau.

Based on the data presented by the PHO from March 15 to August 8, 2021, the province’s daily new cases peaked at 297 in April.

From then on the cases continued to spike until by July 1 new cases started to decline, and started to plateau from July 10 until August 8 with new cases averaging to two-digit only.

As of August 8, Bago City has the most number of active COVID-19 cases in the province with 95, followed by La Carlota with 82, and La Castellana with 69.

Four local government units in the province, meanwhile, show only single digit active cases. They are Candoni with eight active cases, Don Salvador Benedicto and San Enrique with seven, and the town of Toboso with only six active cases.

Overall, the case fatality rate in Negros Occidental is at 2.56 percent.

COVID-19 status of the province also shows that it currently has a 92 percent recovery rate. Symptomatic prevalence, meanwhile, is at 25 percent, while asymptomatic is at 75 percent./DGB, WDJ
