The Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) expressed its gratitude to security and safety officers for effectively managing huge crowds of vaccinees flocking mall-based vaccination sites in the city.

“We thank our Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), and the safety officers of mall-based vaccination sites for effectively managing the huge crowds of vaccinees,” EOC-TF said in a statement on Tuesday, August 10.

One of the crowd-control measures implemented at vaccination sites is setting up priority lanes for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

These priority lanes, according to City Administrator and EOC-TF executive director Em Ang, have significantly helped in ensuring a smooth and fast-paced COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia had said that it is heartening as more and more Bacolodnons are now willing to be inoculated.

“We will continue to exert all efforts to vaccinate as many as possible as the vaccines come,” he said in a previous statement.

Meanwhile, Contact Tracing head, Dr. Rosalie Deocampo, said that the city’s vaccination program continues to help decrease the number of severe COVID-19 cases in Bacolod.

“Vaccine acceptance among Bacolodnons has been getting stronger. More individuals continue to register to avail [of] the COVID-19 vaccines and line up at the city’s vaccination centers,” Deocampo said.

She added that other accomplishments under Bacolod’s vaccination program have also contributed in lowering COVID-19 cases for almost a month now.

As of July 31, 2021, a total of 149,488 individuals have already been vaccinated in Bacolod. The vaccination program of the city started last March 5, 2021./WDJ
