An alleged robber was killed after he was stabbed by his victims using a samurai sword or “Katana” at Purok Taal in Bacolod City’s Barangay Villamonte early yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality as 35-year-old Ernesto Vallejo, a resident of the said city.
Police Station 4 commander, Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, said Vallejo allegedly broke into the house of 65-year-old Quentin Limbaga and his son Czedrian Limbaga.
Unbeknownst to Vallejo, however, the elder Limbaga was awake and he immediately hit Vallejo in the head using a pipe.
As both Vallejo and the elder Limbaga were locked in a scuffle, the younger Limbaga also jumped in and also hit Vallejo with the pipe.
Vallejo then drew a knife and stabbed the elder Limbaga in the hand. However, the victim took a samurai sword and stabbed the suspect, killing him on the spot.
Both the father and son were rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries in their scuffle with the suspect.
In a separate interview with RMN DYHB-Bacolod, the suspect’s aunt claimed that her nephew has a drug problem.
The suspect’s family was also aware that he was involved in several theft and robbery incidents, and they have repeatedly tried to tell him to stop it.
They have yet to decide whether they will file charges against the victims./DGB, WDJ
