Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that they will reveal their bets for president and vice president during the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC).
“By that time we will definitely determine who the candidates are. Along with Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, that’s the time that we will reveal who we are going to support,” Lacson said.
Lacson made the statement as some mayors in the province have already signified support for presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio if she decides to run for president in the coming May 9 elections.
He said supposed to be the most ideal is for the members of the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) and Love Negros to support the same candidates for president and vice president but it is also difficult to get that consensus.
“Me and the vice governor will wait until the filing of the COC and then we will see if Negros Occidental can come up with common candidates which would be a big plus for us but we cannot force the other public officials,” Lacson said.
He added that although he will go with the decision of the Nationalist People’s Coalition where he belongs but he and Ferrer will wait until the filing of the COC to name their bets./DGB, WDJ
