The Department of Health (DOH) has again issued a reminder to companies yesterday morning, that the “no vaccine, no work” policy is not allowed.
Based on the advisory released by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), all employers may encourage their employees to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.
However, any employee who chooses not to get vaccinated or fails to get vaccinated shall not be discriminated against in terms of employment.
The DOH also said under Republic Act 11525, or an act establishing the COVID-19 vaccination program, vaccine cards shall not be considered as an additional requirement for employment purposes.
To recall, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the “no vaccine no work” policy is “illegal,” saying employers could not force workers to vaccinate if they don’t want to./DGB, WDJ
