The local government of San Carlos City in Negros Occidental through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted an orientation on the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) yesterday morning at Barangay Rizal covered court.

At least 96 beneficiaries in the said barangay qualified for the TUPAD program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) who will start their emergency employment this afternoon and will be working for four hours in 10 days for P390 rate per day.

The beneficiaries will be divided into two groups, morning and afternoon batch in observance of the minimum health protocol and will also receive personal protective equipment from DOLE such as the green long sleeve, straw hats and face masks.

PESO in-charge Erel Lim said that the government saw the needs of the people especially during the pandemic where many were left jobless. Hence, the said work program was initiated.

Said work scheme also gets funds from the office of Congressman Gerardo Valmayor Jr.

Earlier, other beneficiaries in the different 13 barangays in the city have already availed of the TUPAD program./WDJ
