An Australian-national and a nanny were arrested for alleged kidnapping of two minors in Bacolod City’s Barangay Estefania, Monday morning.

Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Police Station 4 commander, identified the suspects as 39-year-old Peter Lay and 25-year-old Edlyn Gelantagaan.

According to Batadlan, the victims aged nine and three years old were successfully rescued.

Lay was the former lover of the victims’ mother, while Gelantagaan was the victims’ nanny.

Batadlan said the suspects kidnapped the two children at a hotel in Dumaguete City last Sunday, July 18, in an attempt to have the victims’ mother to return to Lay.

The police chief also said they arrested Gelantagaan as she allegedly told Lay the whereabouts of the children.

Both Lay and Gelantagaan were subsequently transferred to the custody of the Dumaguete City Police Station in Negros Oriental and are currently facing kidnapping charges.

The two minors, meanwhile, have been reunited with their mother./DGB, WDJ
