Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz confirmed yesterday that five employees of the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.
According to Diaz, two of the five employees tested positive last Saturday, July 10. The two initially requested to be placed in an isolation facility near Bacolod City.
However, by Sunday, July 11, one of the patients was transferred to the Valladolid District Hospital after the medical staff noticed that his oxygen saturation readings began to deteriorate, and he was required to be placed on oxygen.
“Fortunately, Negros Occidental has recently bought a high flow oxygen machine and they managed to stabilize the patient. He’s now reported to be doing well,” Diaz said.
The additional three positive cases, meanwhile, were referred to the provincial government-run quarantine facility at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia town after getting their results yesterday. Diaz noted that all three are also doing well.
He further added the rest of the NOCHP personnel have gotten a negative COVID-19 result, and they may soon be allowed to resume their duties./DGB, WDJ
