Taekwondo jins from the Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers New Gen made their presence felt during the 2021 SMART-MVPSF National Interschool Speed Kicking Championships over the weekend.
Leigh Andee Rodriguez of STI-West Negros University bannered the gold medal winners after ruling the junior women’s lightweight category, while Julio Miguel Zapata of St. Scholastica’s Academy-Bacolod topped the junior men fin-flyweight category.
Jerik Joseph Paiwas of Negros Occidental High School nabbed a gold in the cadet male lightweight category and Wynnonah Kiarra Chavez of Westgrove Primary School topped the cadet female fly-welterweight category.
Capturing silver medals were Bacolod Tay Tung High School’s Christelle Therese Avanceña (junior women red) and Manuel Machado III (cadet male bantam featherweight), and Alexander Joseph Marañon of St. John’s Institute Bacolod (toddler).
Also with silvers were Francine Launio of St. Scholastica’s Academy (Cadet Light welterweight), Ianne Rose Treyes of St. Benilde School (Junior Women Blue) and Paulo Lopez of University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (Gradeschool boys).
Bagging bronze medals were Christophe Therence Avanceña of Bacolod Tay Tung High School (Gradeschool boys) and Cipriano Lumanog IV of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic School (Cadet Male fin)./ASC, WDJ
