Three fishermen were arrested for alleged illegal fishing in Barangay Botlog, Concepcion town in Iloilo on Sunday night.

Concepcion police identified the suspects as Nene Asturias and Melchor Sicad, residents of the town’s Barangay Loong; and a certain Acak of the town’s Barangay Poblacion.

Personnel of the local Bantay Dagat chanced upon them fishing in the non-fishing area.

The three were brought to the Concepcion Police Station, facing charges for violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 1 Series of 2008 in relation to Republic Act 8550, otherwise known as the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998./WDJ
