The Diocese of San Carlos in Negros Occidental said Bishop Gerardo Alminaza is doing well at the hospital after falling ill with COVID-19 earlier this week.

Monsignor Erwin Magnanao, Vicar General of the Diocese of San Carlos, said Alminaza is responding to treatment and is recuperating, although he was advised by doctors to rest.

Magnanao said Alimanaza is extending his appreciation for the love and prayers.

“May the Lord grant His healing grace to our beloved bishop and all the people affected by the disease,” Magnanao said.

Magnanao has also confirmed that the City Health Office and the local government unit of San Carlos City has already released the RT-PCR test results showing out of the 12 individuals who were tested, only two tested positive for COVID-19.

The priests, meanwhile, also underwent testing and they tested negative for the virus.

He also affirmed that the Bishop’s Home Compound is currently on a 14-day zonal containment which began on Wednesday, June 23, until July 6, 2021.
