A former prisoner was shot dead by riding-in-tandem suspects at St. Martin Subdivision, Barangay 21 in Negros Occidental’s Victorias City on Saturday morning, June 19.

Police identified the fatality as 38-year-old Eric Detoyato, a resident of the said place.

Police Lt. Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, Victorias City police chief, said Detoyato was previously incarcerated, but was released after availing of a plea bargaining agreement.

Based on their investigation, the victim had just exited a tricycle and was walking to his house when riding-in-tandem suspects shot him multiple times.

Detoyato was rushed to the city’s Ikaayong Lawas Medical Clinic but he was declared dead-on-arrival by hospital staff after sustaining gunshot wounds to head and chest.

Police are still investigating the incident to determine the gun men’s motives./DGB, WDJ
