Police arrested 78 persons engaged in alleged illegal cockfighting at Hacienda Ma. Jose, Barangay San Isidro in Negros Occidental’s EB Magalona town.

Joint operatives of the EB Magalona Police Station led by Police Captain Eric Doronila and 4th Platoon of the 1st Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company led by Police Lieutenant Pantaleon Amante arrested the suspects around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 13,.

Police confiscated six live, two wounded and six dead fighting cocks; one gaff; pad paper as tally sheet of betting; two scissors; and P2,000 alleged bet money.

The suspects are now detained at the EB Magalona Police Station, facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./WDJ
