A freelance makeup artist was killed after he was shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman late Thursday night, June 10, along Galo Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay 12.
Police identified the fatality as 34-year-old John King Porras, a resident of Purok Bolinao in the city’s Barangay 1.
Police Major Ramel Sarona, Police Station 1 commander, said the victim was seated in a parked tricycle when a gunman in a black motorcycle stopped and opened fire at Porras.
The gunman immediately sped away, while bystanders rushed Porras to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his wounds.
In a separate interview with the victim’s mother Antonia, she said at around 8:00 p.m. her son was doing the laundry when he received a phone call. Porras then hurriedly left the house without giving word as to where he was going.
A few hours later, Antonia ordered Porras’ sibling to call the victim, but to their surprise a police officer answered the call and they told him that her son was already at the hospital.
She also affirmed that Porras was previously a drug addict and in an attempt to make him stop, he had him reported to the police. The cops would later visit Porras in his home as part of “Oplan: Tokhang.”
Police are presently investigating the incident./DGB, WDJ
