Taekwondo jins from the Negros Taekwondo Union (NTU)-Tigers New Gen delivered six medals in the 2021 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation National Interschool Poomsae Championships over the weekend.

Christelle Theresse Avanceña of Bacolod Tay Tung High School spearheaded the gold haul for the Bacolod City-based stable as she captured a gold in the Junior Female Red category.
Avanceña defeated silver medalist Ashton dela Torre (St. Paul Parañaque) and bronze winners Kimberly Concepcion (Manresa School) and Kriztel Sebastian (College of the Immaculate Concepcion) in the category.
Ceanne Kyle Rosquillo of Negros Occidental High School also won a gold medal in the Senior Male Black, beating silver medalist Kier Macalino (National University) and bronze medalists Jed Tan (National University) and Joachim Tuzon (University of Santo Tomas).
Alexander Marañon of St. John’s Institute-Bacolod ruled the Gradeschool Boys Red as he defeated silver medalist Issei Endo (International School Manila) and bronze winners Junior Ji (College of Maasin) and Matthew Almonte (St. Clare College-Cauayan City).
Also with gold medal was El John Alinar of Negros Occidental High School in the Junior/Senior Male Blue category. He defeated Arden Ruiz (Pudtol Vocational School-Apayao), Kaienth Badua (Pudtol Central School) and Gabriel Ciego (Christ the King, Calbayog City).
Winning bronze medals for the NTU-Tiger New Gen taekwondo stable were Julienne Beatriz Zapata of St. Scholastica’s Academy in Cadet Girls Black and Manuel Machado III of Bacolod Tay Tung High School in Cadet Boys Brown./ASC, WDJ
