The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) together with the San Carlos City Engineer’s Office and the City Planning and Coordination Office visited the proposed P20-million farm-to-market road sites in barangays Codcod and Quezon in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
The proposed road to be concreted in Barangay Quezon ranges from 1.2 kilometers, 1.5 kilometers for road opening and 1 meter shouldering for both sides with 2.5 meters per lane and 8 inches thickness.
Inspection in Barangay Codcod was also conducted for the next project implementation with project site survey now underway.
The said inspection facilitated the making of checklist to make sure the design is within the guidelines of the DILG and that it follows the technical requirements given.
The Department of Budget Management has allotted P20 million for each five beneficiaries in the city which include barangays Buluangan, Nataban, Guadalupe, Quezon, and Codcod as part of the DILG’s Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) for rebel returnees and mass supporters in said barangays who already returned to the folds of the government.
The city government of San Carlos preferred to implement farm-to-market roads with confirmation from the beneficiaries in said areas since it is the major necessity to help farmers convey their farm products to the market and improve their livelihood./WDJ
