The city government of Bacolod has received an additional shipment of 10,000 COVID-19 vaccines over the weekend.
City Health Office (CHO) head, Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., said the 10,000 CoronaVac doses from Chinese biotech company Sinovac arrived via Philippine Airlines at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.
Miraflor said the additional doses will be used either for those who will be getting their first dose or for second dose use.
The vaccines were immediately transported to the CHO’s cold storage facility located at the Bacolod City Government Center.
As of June 4, the city has already administered 37,150 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. A total of 15,432 received the CoronaVac jabs, while 21,718 received the British-made AstraZeneca vaccine.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia had earlier requested the national government to allocate more vaccines for Bacolod, citing the urgent need to inoculate more residents amid the continued spike in local cases./DGB, WDJ
