Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena is joining his younger brother Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena III in Japan after agreeing to a deal with Shiga Lakestars for the 2021-2022 B.League Season.
The NLEX Road Warriors star guard is being signed by the Lakestars under the Asian Player Quotas, the team announced on its official website yesterday morning.
“We are very pleased to announce that we have signed a new player for the 2021-22 Season with Kiefer Ravena. He will be registered as the Asian Player Quotas,” the Lakestars said.
“Please look forward to Ravena’s success in B.League Japan, as well as being a connection bridge between Shiga Prefecture, Japan and Philippines,” the team added.
Kiefer’s career move to Japan did not come as a surprise as it has long been rumored and was even confirmed by Road Warriors head coach Joseller “Yeng” Guiao.
Ravena’s signing with the Lakestars could be met with some complications as he was still under contract with the Road Warriors.
The Road Warriors and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has yet to issue their statements regarding this development as of press time.
Kiefer’s younger brother Thirdy was the first Filipino to play in B.League via San-En NeoPhoenix last season. He recently inked a multi-year contract renewal to stay with the squad./ASC, WDJ
