Ferry trips plying the Bacolod City-Dumangas, Iloilo route are expected to resume after the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) one-week travel moratorium expired this morning.
In a joint advisory sight by RIATF chairperson Juan Jovianne Ingeniero and Office of Civil Defense Region VI Director Jose Roberto Nuñez, effective 12:01 a.m. of June 1, all trips plying the Negros Occidental to Dumangas port route are allowed to resume.
Iloilo City was also included in the lifting of the travel moratorium, however, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has appealed for another extension due to the city still under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
As of press time, however, Treñas’ request has yet to be approved.
The joint advisory also stated that travelers should observe minimum public health standards and coordinate with their respective local government units for travel requirements prior to their departure.
Last week, the RIATF also made a decision to suspend trips between Bacolod City and Dumangas town.
The RIATF’s order does not cover the movement of cargoes and essential personnel between the two islands which remained unimpeded during the duration of the travel moratorium./DGB, WDJ
