The call to observe health protocols is not new to all citizens of this country, specifically here in Bacolod City. Observance of health protocols is a must regardless of your status in life and most importantly, all government agencies have the duty to observe the same.
Government agencies, whether local or national offices, must be a good example to all. Sad to note that there are some agencies that are not keen in following health protocols. There are no policies being implemented as if the situation is normal, like there’s no COVID-19 at all. How can you respect this kind of government agency? Instead of leading by example, they are the number one violator of the policies.
In this time of pandemic we need to follow and strictly implement the health protocols such as simple social distancing, proper wearing of face mask, etc. The Bacolod City government is working hard to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We must also do our share as good citizens of this country. The government cannot do it alone, they need our cooperation. We will criticize if we need to, but we must also take cognizance of the good things they are doing.
More than a year had passed yet we are still struggling to survive this pandemic. While the citizens of the first world countries are well-supported economically and nobody goes hungry. Our wholehearted goal to obey and cooperate religiously what the government experts tell us to do is one of the initiatives we need in order to surpass the trials we are facing now. As a Christian nation, prayer is still the powerful weapon that could keep us going despite the hardships along the way.
Our government leaders know how to perform their given tasks. Though some of them have flaws, but then again our duty as good citizens is to cooperate for our own good. If along the way we experience some flaws in the implementation of policies of some government agencies we must act collectively to bring our grievances to the proper forum so that they can be properly addressed by the national office.
At the end of the day justice must prevail because “Public Service is a Public Trust.” But the sad truth is there are government employees who do not deserve a single centavo of their salary being a public servant./WDJ
