A 33-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly discharged his firearm at Purok Madre, Barangay Santa Cruz in Negros Occidental’s  Murcia town Monday morning.

Police identified the arrested as Renante Clais, a resident of the said place.

Murcia police said they received a phone call from a concerned citizen reporting that Clais allegedly created alarm and scandal and illegally discharged his firearm.

Police soon arrived and immediately arrested Clais on the spot. Recovered from the suspect’s possession were a .9mm pistol loaded with two live ammunition and an empty .9mm cartridge.

The police further stated that Clais failed to produce any legal documents regarding the firearm.

Clais was detained at the Murcia Municipal Police Station.

He could face charges involving illegal possession of firearms and ammunition./DGB, WDJ
