Taekwondo jins based in Negros Occidental had a remarkable performance during the 2021 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Online National Taekwondo Speed Kicking Championships.

The athletes from the Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers New Gen garnered a total of 20 medals—including seven golds, seven bronzes and six silver medals—in the recently-held online competition.

Capturing gold medals were cadet taekwondo jins Julio Miguel Zapara (Male Black Flyweight), Jerik Joseph Paiwas (Male Black light welterweight), Wynnona Kiarra Chavez (Female red fin-feather), and Francine Launio (Female brown light-welter).

Also with golds for the NTU-Tigers New Gen were Junior taekwondo jins Christelle Avanceña (Female Red Fin-Fly), Ianne Rose Treyes (Junior Female Blue) and El John Alinar (Junior Male Blue).

Gradeschool taekwondo jins Christophe Avancena (Male Brown), Alexander Maranon (Male Red) and Jaden Barroquillo (Male Red) led the silver medal winners for the taekwondo stable.

Also with silver medals were Cadet taekwondo jin Gadiel Lopez in Male Blue category and Junior jins Leigh Andee Rodriguez in Female Black Light-Welter and Arthur Diaz in Male Black Fly.

NTU-Tiger New Gen also got bronze medals from Cadet taekwondo jins Cydric Rojas (Male Welter-Heavy), Jared Sevilleno (Male Blue) and Cipriano Lumanog (Male Brown Fin-Fly).

The rest of the bronze medals were from gradeschool taekwondo jins Nieka Ferrer (Female Red), Charlize Florentino (Female Red), Josh Montessino (Male Red) and Cypher Rojas (Male Blue).

“Another job well done! Their ability to thrive allows them to grow in their Taekwondo spirit and produce results! It is also all because of the hard work of the kids and the undying support of our parents in our program! Salamat gid!” said NTU-Tiger New Gen coach Jean Pierre Sabido.
