Personnel of the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the midwife on-duty from the City Health Office were already prepared to transfer the mother into the ambulance so she could be transported to the Bacolod City Lying-in and Birthing Center.

However, things did not go according to their plan, as the mother could no longer bear the pain, according to the Facebook post of DRRMO Bacolod.

The COVID-positive mother, who is a resident of the city’s Barangay Estefania, delivered her first baby inside the room at Midway-Alijis Facility at around 10:40 a.m.

Netizens meanwhile lauded midwife Charo Isabel Pangatungan for helping the mother gave birth.

The mother was undergoing a 14-day quarantine at the isolation facility after she tested positive for COVID-19.

After delivering her baby at the isolation facility, she was then transferred to the Bacolod City Lying-in and Birthing Center for monitoring and giving of proper care needed./SGG, WDJ
