PRO-6 seizes over P55-M illegal drugs in 4 months

Various police units of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) were able to confiscate a total of P55,073,404.56 worth of illegal drugs in four months of antidrug operations across Western Visayas.

The operations – a total of 662 were carried out – were from January to April 2021.

Negros Occidental recorded the highest value in recovered illegal drugs at P21,170,383. Bacolod City confiscated a total of P15,036.288 worth of illegal drugs; Iloilo province – P13,056,759.56; Iloilo City – P3,497,760.80; Capiz – P2,217,293.20; Guimaras – P45,5000; Aklan – P28,920; and Antique – P20,500.

PRO-6 records showed that the seized illegal drugs were P10,347,291.53 higher than those confiscated in the same period in 2020 with a total of P44,726,113.03 worth of illegal drugs recovered.

PRO-6 data added that the 662 anti-drug operations resulted in the arrest of 841 individuals engaged in illegal drug activities. Negros Occidental recorded the highest number of arrests at 357 and Bacolod City followed with  284.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Rolando Miranda said that in the first four months of this year, a total of 7752.367 grams or 7.75 kilograms of shabu were confiscated, of which 3,071.659 grams were confiscated in Negros Occidental. Bacolod City police seized 2,214.259 grams; Iloilo province – 1,624.969 grams; Iloilo City – 502.561 grams; Capiz – 324.809 grams; Guimaras – 5.910 grams; Antique – 4.500 grams; and Aklan – 3.7 grams.

Meanwhile, in terms of marijuana, Iloilo province seized a total of 1,402.3 grams. Negros Occidental followed with 1,221 grams; Aklan – 27.8 grams; and Bacolod City – 25 grams. Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo City recorded no confiscation of marijuana.

Currently, PRO-6 remains steadfast in eradicating illegal drugs in the region by formulating interventions to cope with the current trend in illegal drug trade.

“We will continue strengthen our efforts against illegal drug trade in the region until such time that all of the identified drug personalities will be put behind bars,” Miranda said./WDJ
