Four Ilongga volleyball players, led by middle blocker Kyle Pendon, are set to make waves for the Far Eastern University (FEU) in UAAP junior girls volleyball.

The Pototan, Iloilo-native Pendon earned the impression of the Baby Tamaraws coaching staff, making her the second player from Palanguia National High School to play in Manila.

“Playing in UAAP is one of the dreams of every athlete,” Pendon told Watchmen Daily Journal over the weekend. “Grabe gid, sir, ang kalipay ko nga nakuha ko sang FEU kay sadto handum ko lang gid na kag na lantaw-lantaw ko lang sa TV.”

“Kay nahatagan ako chance himuon ko tanan para mapakita ang makaya ko and I know the coaches of FEU will help me become stronger and better athlete,” she added.

Aside from the 5-foot-8 Pendon, also recruited to the Baby Tamaraws from Iloilo were middle blocker Zchryren Kate Mediavilla, outside hitter Elizza Anne Alimen and setter Fiona Marie Arroyo.

“Being from Dumangas myself, mas priority ko na ma-recruit ‘yung mga players from Western Visayas,” said Baby Tamaraws head coach Rjay del Rosario.

“I also know na there are so many talented players in Region 6 and they can excel and keep in step with the players in Manila given the opportunity and exposure,” he added.

Del Rosario said that he is still in talks with some prospects in the region, particularly for the boys high school volleyball team, to finalize their commitment with FEU./ASC, WDJ
