Slain Negros Occidental provincial consultant on hospital operations Mariano Antonio “Marton” Cui III has finally been laid to rest yesterday afternoon at their family’s mausoleum in San Carlos City.
Cui’s remains were brought to the San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral in the city for a memorial service prior to his burial.
Thousands of Negrenses, some of whom received help directly from Cui himself, also joined the event, and they gathered at the cathedral’s grounds and public plaza to pay their final respects.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, meanwhile, are still facing a blank wall as to who was responsible for Cui’s murder.
The provincial official formerly worked as a political adviser to some officials in Negros Occidental, particularly former first district Congressman Jules Ledesma IV.
Cui was shot dead last week as he was leaving his office at the city’s Emerald Arcade.
The suspects were believed to have used a sniper rifle and hit Cui twice in the neck, before escaping in two unmarked vehicles./DGB, WDJ
