An alleged gunrunner was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Negros Occidental and Talisay City Police Station last Monday afternoon at Hacienda Lopes in the city’s Barangay Matab-ang.

Police identified the arrested as 59-year-old Joel Parreño, a resident of the city’s Barangay Zone 16.

Police Major Jigger Gemino, Talisay City police chief, said they arrested Parreño after he sold a homemade 12-gauge shotgun in exchange for P8,000.

Aside from the shotgun, police recovered a magazine assembly for a 12-gauge shotgun, the P7,900 boodle money, and the P100 marked money.

Parreño was detained at the CIDG-Negros Occidental headquarters inside Camp Alfredo Montelibano in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City. He is facing charges for illegal possession and sale of firearms./DGB, WDJ
