Police have intensified their campaign against illegal cockfighting in Negros Occidental and arrested nine violators in the cities of Bago, Sagay and Silay and in the town of Ilog last Sunday, April 18.

Those arrested in Purok Malunggay in Barangay Calumangan, Bago City were Joemarie Atangan, 30; Juanito Caballero, 71; Anthony Vergara, 47 and Godofredo Sua, 67.

In Silay City, police nabbed Rodrigo Delmondo, 60; Romy Camingawan, 44; Julito Peñalosa, 31 and Jimboy Estioco, 21, at Hacienda Bu-ac in Barangay Kapitan Ramon.

Thirty three-year-old Eldefonso Tomacas alias “Junjun” was arrested in Sagay City’s Barangay Rizal.

Police confiscated dead fighting cocks, bet money and several gaffs.

The suspects were detained at the respective police stations and charged for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./WDJ
