The mayor and vice mayor of Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental became the latest local chief executives to fall ill to coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.
Mayor Raymund Tongson said he and Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao have received the results of their swab tests yesterday morning and both of them have tested positive for the virus.
Tongson said they are currently feeling mild symptoms and both of them have already placed themselves in isolation.
All of the city councilors have also undergone swab tests and they should be receiving their results today.
Despite falling ill with COVID-19, Tongson said they will still continue their work serving the public.
He also reminded the city’s residents to be responsible and continue observing proper health protocols.
Earlier this week, the town mayor of Murcia and two Sangguniang Bayan members have also tested positive for COVID-19./DGB, WDJ
