Two suspected driver’s license fixers were arrested around 9:00 a.m. yesterday in an entrapment operation in Barangay San Rafael, located in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district.

Authorities identified the suspects as 36-year-old Jessie Alipapa of Barangay Cabolo-an Sur, Oton, Iloilo and 49-year-old Endralyn Cuerdo of Barangay Calumpang in the city’s Molo district.

The two were arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the personnel of the Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) and Mandurriao Police Station after they handed over a fake driver’s license to a female complainant in exchange of P6,000.

LTO-6 director Gaudioso Geduspan said the suspects were operating in southern Iloilo and they have already victimized several drivers.

Geduspan said that prior to their arrest, the LTO-6 received reports that the suspects were involved in making fake driver’s licenses.

“We negotiated with them for four days and we conducted an entrapment operation with the Mandurriao police personnel until we got them,” he said.

The suspects were detained at the Mandurriao Police Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9485, or The Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007./WDJ
