At least 105 households in two barangays in Negros Occidental’s Cauayan town were placed on “precautionary lockdown” due to a spike in coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, cases in the area.

In an executive order signed by Cauayan Mayor John Rey Tabujara, he ordered a two-week lockdown for barangays Isio and Guiljungan.

Barangay Guiljungan has a total of 58 households, while Barangay Isio has 47 households. Contact tracing is now being made in the two affected barangays.

Tabujara also ordered the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office to take care of the needs of the affected families, such as giving them food packs during the duration of the lockdown.

Tabujara added that as part of precautionary measures the distribution of school modules was also suspended until further notice in the two barangays.

Based on the data coming from the Provincial Health Office of Negros Occidental as of April 7, Cauayan has 94 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 18 have been tagged as active./DGB, WDJ
