San Carlos City Mayor Rene Gustilo yesterday warned the city’s residents that he would request for the city to be placed under the stricter general community quarantine (GCQ) or the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) if the number of COVID-19 cases in the city continues to surge.

In an interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod yesterday, Gustilo said the city’s active COVID-19 cases continue to go up, and if they had the budget he would place the entire city on total lockdown.

Based on their latest record as of Monday, April 5, Gustilo said they have 21 additional COVID-19 cases and they now have a total of 140 active cases.

He noted that this is currently the highest number of cases recorded in the city ever since the pandemic began last year.

Records from the Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office also placed the city to the top of local government units in the province with the most number of active COVID-19 cases./DGB, WDJ
