The senior citizen who was shot dead at the Northbound Terminal in Bacolod City’s Barangay Bata last week was revealed to be the relative of a high-profile convicted drug lord.
Police Station 3 commander, Police Major Richard Fajarito, said 62-year-old Lino Cuadra of Purok Sigay in Bacolod City’s Barangay 2 was the relative of convicted drug lord Boy Cuadra.
Fajarito said Lino’s son had also been arrested on a drug-related charge in 2019, although he clarified that the victim was not under the station’s drugs watchlist. He said they are currently coordinating with other police units to determine if he is listed in their own watchlist.
Fajarito said based on the victim’s background, he had been involved in a shootout in 2012 at the city’s Goldenfields Commercial Complex, which resulted in the death of Police Sgt. Arnold Cañal.
Then-Police Corporal Federico Nicolas, as well as a civilian identified as Samson Suico, were also wounded in the shootout.
As of this writing, officers of the Police Station 3 are currently looking at the victim’s involvement in the shooting incident as the motive behind the murder and are continuing their investigation of the case./DGB, WDJ
