Swimming went fatal for a mother and her daughter at Sitio Bundaogan, Barangay Tiglawigan in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Thirty nine-year-old Melanie Juanico Alo and 11-year-old Mary Bless Alo of the village’s Sitio Banica drowned in the sea around 8:00 a.m. yesterday, according to Cadiz City OIC police chief, Police Major Rocky Desear.

Police investigation revealed that Melanie went swimming with Mary Bless and her other daughter and nieces who the police did not identify.

The mother tried to rescue Mary Bless after the latter was drawn by strong waves but they both drowned.

Melanie’s other daughter and her nieces survived and immediately asked for help.

Melanie and Mary Bless were later fished out of the water and were brought to the Cadiz Emergency Clinic where they were declared dead on-arrival./WDJ
