Two fishermen from Sipalay City, Negros Occidental who spent five days adrift in the Sulu Sea and were later rescued off the coast of Zamboanga del Norte are now back home.

Alex Alagao and Rico Norquia were brought to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Negros Oriental headquarters in Dumaguete City, according to Sipalay City Executive Assistant Dionilo Bogta.

The fishermen met PCG-Negros Oriental chief, Lt. Commander Jansen Benjamin, a day after the rescue.

They were subsequently picked by officials from the City Government of Sipalay City and brought back home yesterday morning.

The two fishermen were earlier rescued off the coast of Siocon town in Zamboanga del Norte.

It was revealed that their fishing boat, F/B Best Friend suffered engine trouble and they were unable to return back to Sipalay City, and they spent five days adrift in the Sulu Sea before sea currents brought them near Siocon./DGB, WDJ
