Oubre fires 40, GSW outduels Dallas

Kelly Oubre Jr. had a career-best outing as the Golden State Warriors (GSW) outdueled Dallas Mavericks, 147-116, in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Thursday night (Friday in the Philippines) at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.

Oubre tallied 40 points, including seven outside conversions, to go along with eight rebounds as the Warriors snapped its losing run to improve to 12-10 win-loss slate.

Stephen Curry added 28 markers, Andrew Wiggins and Damion Lee chipped in 18 and 17, while Draymond Green contributed 15 assists to go along with 11 points and six rebounds for the Warriors.

Down 76-79 early in the third, Oubre ignited a huge Golden State run in the quarter to seize a 100-93 advantage. Baskets from Lee and Mychal Mulder widened the lead to 110-95.

The Warriors continued its onslaught in the fourth period with Lee and Oubre connecting back-to-back 3s each and Wiggins nailing five straight points as the lead reached its biggest at 146-112.

Luka Doncic finished with 27 points, Kristap Porzingis added 23 markers, while Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson contributed 19 and 18 as the Mavericks dropped to 9-14.

Meanwhile, just like the shorthanded Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers (12-9) bucked the absence of veteran players as they stunned Eastern Conference top-seed Philadelphia 76ers (16-7), 121-105.

Gary Trent Jr. topscored with 24 points, including four triples, Carmelo Anthony added 22 markers, while Enes Kanter had double-double 17 points and 18 rebounds for the Trail Blazers.

Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson fired 23 points as the Western Conference no. 1 team Utah Jazz (17-5) cruised to a 112-91 victory over Atlanta Hawks (10-12).
