Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson expressed his concern over the recent surge of the cases of COVID-19 in Bacolod City after 41 call center agents of Transcom tested positive for the virus in a series of surveillance testing by the city government’s Emergency Operations Center.

While the provincial government has no jurisdiction over the city, Lacson pointed out eight of the positive cases are residents of local governments outside Bacolod City.

“They took public transport on their way home. We hope that it was not spread there,” Lacson said, adding that “Bacolod City is on top of the situation.”

Meanwhile, the governor reiterated the standing protocol of the provincial government.

“Our protocol has been there from the very beginning. All those entering the province should show a negative test result. Bacolod has its own and the province has its own,” Lacson pointed out.

He also said that “we remind our employees to check themselves when they wake up every morning. If you’re not feeling well, do not report for work.”

“We should be disciplined enough to know if we will go to work or not. Stay home if you feel sick,” Lacson advised Negrenses./DGB, WDJ
