Several Manila-based schools and universities have shown interest in gaining the services of Iloilo Doctors’ College secondary girls volleyball team standout Shauntell Nicole Pido.

The said schools and universities have already sent feelers but no formal talks were set with the Iloilo City-native Pido who is mulling to move out of the country and join her dad in Guam.

“There were feelers from Manila-based schools but no negotiations,” said the source on condition of anonymity. “But Shauntell and her family have yet to decide whether to entertain this offer since there’s a plan for the former to join her dad in Guam.”

“Whatever decision the family will have, for sure it will benefit Shauntell,” the source added. “She is a talented player, has a good Volleyball IQ, and no doubt has a bright  future ahead as a volleybelle if she decides to stay on.”

In an interview with Iloilo Sports LANG, the 14-year-old Pido said that her dream schools in Manila are University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses and Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles.

“UST and Ateneo were my dream schools ever since,” the five-foot-seven Pido said. “I grew up watching those two teams, especially Ateneo, since I am a big fan of Alyssa Valdez.”

Pido was supposed to be part of the Western Visayas PRISAA team for last year’s edition of National PRISAA, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic./ASC, WDJ
